Rochelle Feinstein in conversation with Stephanie Weber and Justin Lieberman (in English)

Rochelle Feinstein has been a fixture on the New York art scene for over forty years. She is known for her multifaceted oeuvre, in which she combines painting with drawing, photography, screen printing and sculpture. In her work, Feinstein questions traditional concepts of art, especially painting, in a humorous yet profound way and critically examines contemporary, especially American, culture and politics. Her work is characterised by a playful approach to material and form. She was head of the painting and printmaking department at the Yale School of Art for over two decades. As a professor, she influenced an entire generation of artists. Her work is represented in numerous institutional and private collections worldwide. Selected solo exhibitions: Centre d'Art Contemporain Geneva, Lenbachhaus Munich, Kestnergesellschaft Hanover, Bronx Museum of the Arts. Rochelle Feinstein was born in the Bronx in 1947 and lives in New York City.
Stephanie Weber is a curator at Lenbachhaus in Munich. Most recently, she organized „But Live Here? No Thanks: Surrealism and Anti-fascism“(co-curated with Adrian Djukić and Karin Althaus) on view at Lenbachhaus until March 2, 2025. In 2016, she worked with Rochelle Feinstein on her monographic exhibition „I made a terrible mistake“.
Justin Lieberman is an artist and teacher working in Munich. He works with collage, painting, sculpture, and video. Lieberman was a student of Rochelle Feinstein in the Graduate painting program at Yale in the early 2000‘s.
