Nicole Eisenman’s (b. 1965) often outrageously funny and virtuosic paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures reflect a deep investment in the technical possibilities of paint, regardless of the medium she is working in. Recent exhibitions include new site-specific work for the 2017 Skulptur Projekte Münster; “Al-ugh-ories” at the New Museum, New York; and “Dear Nemesis: Nicole Eisenman 1993–2013” at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the ICA Philadelphia, and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. She was a 2015 recipient of the MacArthur “Genius” Award.

For her exhibition at the Secession, Eisenman has developed a new series of drawings and large paintings.

Nicole Eisenman lives and works in New York.

The art of Monika Baer (b. Freiburg im Breisgau, 1964) has been described as bridging the gulf between painting and conceptual and performance art, but painting remains the medium to which she is dedicated. Her most recent solo exhibitions were shown at the Kestnergesellschaft, Hannover, and the Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach (2016); at the Greene Naftali Gallery, New York (2015); at the Williams College Museum of Art, Williamstown, Mass. (2014); and at the Art Institute of Chicago (2013).

Baer studied with Alfonso Hüppi at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art from 1985 until 1992. She teaches at Bard College, New York, and at the Städelschule, Frankfurt.

Monika Baer lives and works in Berlin.
